Medical Care

When children come to us with medical needs, we work with parents to find out what is needed and we put together a plan that is best for the family. That sometimes means raising funds for procedures that would be impossible for single moms to fund.

We have a good relationship with a clinic in Mezcales where we have taken children for dental care, neurological studies, and psychological counselling. We have a psychologist who comes for 2 afternoons every week to do both group and individual counselling with children and moms as needed. We also work with the doctors at the local public clinic who help our children when they need stitches or medicine. Sometimes that means bringing our own gauze or thread – so donations of medical supplies are always appreciated.

Most recently we have been working with Dr Del T’Oro at CMQ Hospital who has performed surgery – for free! – for a 10 month old with a club foot.

And then there’s these 2! Many of you have supported us to assist Gael and Martin- check out their stories!

Gael – born profoundly deaf, Gael received a Cochlear implant 4 years ago and continues to need therapy and device maintenance.

Martin – 10 year old Martin’s club foot has kept him from being the athlete he longs to be. We are eagerly awaiting Martin’s surgery with Dr Del T’Oro after 3 months of weekly casting.
